Goodbye Cody...

Cody was a Standard Poodle. We didn't have him very long, just a little over five years. He was an older dog when we adopted him from the poodle rescue kennels... He didn’t have a bad temper, but used to growl a lot. Always trying to act tougher than he really was…

He was abused as a pup, but we took him in with love. We nurtured him with all the things he needed. He never played with toys, but had a favorite blanket. He slept in our bed, usually going there before we did. When we would get into bed and disturb him he would growl. Still trying to be a “tough guy”…

As he got older, we knew that he was soon to die. Dear Cody, half-blind, and with heart problems. When his breathing became labored we took him to the emergency clinic. The vet’s words shattered our hearts, “its time for him to go”…

We had to put him down. We stood there in the doctor’s office and held him, tears rolling off our eyes, as he left this life. I took off his leash and collar, and we hugged him one more time...

Goodbye Cody, Goodbye.
